Hits and Misses

Throughout this year I have grown majorly as a writer in this class. I have also learned many valuable lessons as a student writer, such as plagiarism, length and flow in my writing. Most of my writing to be completely honest were misses but throughout the year I have learned from my mistakes and became a better writer because of it. One of my misses that I learned from was the research paper we had to write about the research we did during our social studies class. This was a miss because I had a major problem with plagiarism in the paper that needed to be fixed. The teacher confronted me about it and asked how she could help. This helped me out tremendously because she helped me review my paper and correct the plagiarized parts and also led me to learn from my mistakes and review what I write before I turn it in.
I feel Like one of the papers that I struggled most on from this year was the blog entries. One of the reasons that I feel like I struggled with this is because the blog entries were tough to write due to the promps and the about we had to write each week. Although I honestly though the blog posts were waste of time they actually made me be able to write longer and better. So the blog posts were defiantly one of my things that I struggled with during this year but overall they have made me a better writer than I would have been without them.

1. If you are in a position of power, you are happy, 2. Sometimes you have to do things other people consider wrong to get ahead.

I have chosen these two statements because although they're not the same they somewhat relate to the same thought when I think of power, I think of wealthy Kings living in palaces with Fancy clothes. I don't know about y'all but when I was a child my parents told me that the only way to succeed in this world is to make money the right way instead of cheating and lying your way through life. For me this relates to both of these statements because one is saying that to be happy you have to have power but we all know that sometimes instead of power Friends and family are the ones that make you happy. The second statement that I wanted to relate to the first was that not doing the right thing and getting ahead for it is not worth it. Instead of trying so hard to succeed with doing the least amount of work possible do your absolute best on everything see you can succeed without cheating.

So these statements that I have chosen I strongly disagree with because powers not everything unless you're happy and to succeed in life and gain power you need to be good at what you do and not cheat your way through life to just get ahead because it will always come back and haunt you. So what I learned from these statements is that Powers isn’t happiness but to be happy you must have some power and the way you gain power is not by cheating lying or stealing but buy succeeding through life.

How well do you know your pet?

My dogs name is River she is a exciting, rambunctious, Energy field organism that loves me. She is fairly recent to our family although she is a puppy. We got her for a christmas present and believe me it was the best one I ever got. Currently I have begun training her to sit, stay and to come which are the bare commands for a dog that I want to be a hunting dog. Currently I am her favorite I feed her, train her and she sleeps with me sometimes. So when I asked myself how well do I know my pet I thought about River and how she always cries to me when she want something to eat or naws on me when she wants to go outside.
River is a very smart and talented dog because she knows how to talk when she's hungry. She comes up to me and starts yelping and jumping until I feed her. When she wants to go outside she runs and sits by the door until I let her out. And when she wants to play she brings me a dummy, gives it to me and sits at my feet until I move. So when I ask myself how well do I know my dog I look back on all of the thing she does to communicate to me and I say I know her pretty well.

Purple Hibiscus Post

Throughout the days of reading Purple Hibiscus I have found many challenges that I’ve had to face and overcome within this book such as the very time consuming work of annotating, writing and discussing all key features within this book.  This is hard for me because I am a very big procrastinator and this is bad for me because it usually takes me a while to complete these assignments and also because these assignments take up much of the day to do. I have also found that my annotations in purple hibiscus are rather long and consume around one and a half hours a night to complete a bread-and-butter assignment. This has shown me at the time I am using to complete this assignment is way too long than it actually should be and I need to use my time more wisely in order to complete these assignments in a timely manner.

Another thing that I found is how helpful the graded discussions are in class because they help me answer questions about comprehension that is shown in the book but it is hard to understand what the author is saying.  They have also helped me discuss questions that I found hard to understand in the book. These questions we’re great for discussions because they did not have one answer each person pitched in what they thought or inferred about the understanding of this topic.  This book has been hard for me  because of the time-consuming work and balancing other classes on top of these big homework assignments. But overall I feel like I have grown a lot more as a reader and I’ve also learned how to manage my time more easily.
