The Squirrel In The Attic

We could hear it above where were standing a squirrel in the attic. He was screeching like he was talking to someone. We wanted to get it out but we didn't want to kill it. We crept up the stairs trying not to spook it. when we opened the door it ran out into the room. We took precautions to shut all the doors in the room so it couldn't escape. It ran into a corner and looked at us with bewildered eyes like were giants about to kill him. So we felt bad and instead of trying to catch him we maneuvered him outside. As soon as he reached the door he jumped on a tree and ran up to its nest and to our amazement, He found  nut and started to eat it.

A Land More Kind Than Home

This week I read chapters 5-7 and right now in the book the perspective starts with the Sheriff talking about the background story of Pastor Chambliss how he was a person who was a man who got caught with petty theft and possession of drugs earlier in his life. And how when he was in a meth lab the meth lab caught fire and burned him yet to get skin grafts on three fourths of his body and almost died. That is how he got those burns. He was also charged with manslaughter because there was a girl inside the meth lab with him.
In the next chapters the perspective goes from the sheriff to Jess and just talks about how after stump dies from a snakebite they think that Pastor Chambliss did it. And one day a group from the church comes over with stumps body and apologize for what they did to him. Sheriff comes over when been Jess's dad is beating all three of the main members of the church for killing his son and the sheriff is worried that Ben may do something more drastic like kill Pastor Chambliss which the sheriff doesn't want him to do because he likes Ben.

A Land More Kind Than Home 2

Currently in this book i am on chapter 6 where the The perspective shifts to Clem Barefield, sheriff of Madison County for 25 years. He explains that he had a choice between sheriff and apple farmer, and chose sheriff. His predecessor, told him that he would get bored but he explains to the reader that in Madison County, it is impossible to be bored.
He's at home with his wife Sheila when he receives a call from his deputy, Rob, alerting him that Stump has been killed at the Church of Signs Following, and his body has been moved to Adelaide Lyle's house. Clem straps on his holster and begins to drive. During this drive he recounts the story of how he once let Ben stay in his house because Ben was afraid on his own father. He gives the reader the background of Ben and Jimmy Hall. this is where i am at this point . this is a very good part of the book and i think i enjoyed it very much.

dear 8 year old

Dear 8 year old, Threat your brothers nicely. Because you may need their help at some point in your life where they're the only ones that will be there for you. Also because the relationships that you have with your brothers will stay with you throughout your life from both now and later. Also later when they're teenagers and you're in eighth grade you'll wish that you were nice to them because they're the only ones with the car.
I have this from my own experiences because I'm a freshman but last year my brother was the only one with the car and we both didn't like each other very much so you could drive me around anywhere. He drives me to school every morning and take me home we have a much better brother relationship now that he has a car. take this from personal experiences that brothers can sometimes be annoying but you will always be in touch with them no matter what.

A land More Kind Than Home

Currently in the book I'm reading A Land More Kind Than Home which is a book about The story is told by Adelaide Lyle, Jess Hall and Sheriff Clem Barefield, as they relay the present events as well as the past events that set up the action. Adelaide opens the novel by recapping the death of Molly Jameson, who had died from a poisonous snake bite during one of Pastor Carson Chambliss’  services. Her body was moved to her garden, where it would be found. After this event Adelaide decided to pull the children out of the church, for their own safety, but did not involve the police.
This Book is a very great book because i like the mystery mixed with action in this detective and coming of age novel. Currently i am on page 48 of the book and so far i am loving it. I heard of this book from friends and family and they said that it was one of the best books that they have ever read.

September 11

September 11th, 2001 was a memorable day in American history. It impacted the lives of many as well as their loved ones. During the morning of September 11, 2001, 4 planes were hijacked two were headed to the world trade centers one was going to the pentagon, and one crashed but they think it was heading towards the white house. This was significant because it was the first time an organization has attacked the US on our soil. This was also a time in American history that'll never be forgotten because it was a very tragic moment for many people in the united states of America.
A terrorist group out of the Middle East, led by Osama Bin Laden, was responsible for the attack on the U.S.  America responded by attacking Afghanistan, where Al Quada was based. The attacks resulted in the U.S. government taking steps to make a safer country. They tightened security in many public areas, and the Department of Homeland Security was created.

Meeting In New Orleans

This weekend was one of the most fun weekends I have ever been a part of. This is because we got a surprise visit from our cousins that live in Ohio. They barely ever come down to see us because the trip is such a long way away. They surprised me at my football game on Friday and I was so glad to see them. Next on Saturday they came over to watch the LSU game with us (which they lost which was disappointing). But we ate and talked all day watching college football and talking about what had happened to our families when we hadn't seen each other. One interesting thing is that our cousin Charlie plays hockey and he is really good at it.

Next, Sunday morning we went to New Orleans until Monday to celebrate my dad's birthday with the family which I thought was going to be really fun. We went to a restaurant called Mr.B's which is an amazing steak house right off Bourbon Street. We stayed there for hours just talking and laughing. It was great. Then the next morning, we went to an amazing breakfast at Brennan's. After that we had to leave and come back to Baton Rouge because we had school so we told them goodbye until the next time we will be able to see them again.

The Things We Carried

For my second summer reading book I read "The Things They Carried." This book was a series of short stories written in first person from a primary witness of the Vietnam War. This book first takes place in the United States where the first short story talks about what the draft was like and the tests that were given to the solders like hearing tests, reaction tests, and even stamina. They also measured height and weight.  Then the next part of the book was about being flown in the "hot zone" which meant the war zone in Vietnam. He talked about how the people that you bunked with would become your best friends and the only people that  would have your back but a lot of this man's friends died.

After that part of the book, there was another part called "Charlie" which meant enemy. This chapter was about how after basic training they were put strait on the front lines walking 8 to 10 miles a day in the swamps and rice patties of Vietnam. It talked about how it always rained there and they would make camps in the rice patties. There would always have to be a couple of people on the look out because they never knew where the enemy would be coming from. This was my favorite book with the exception of All The Light We Cannot See.
