Training my New Dog

         During christmas one of my presents was a lab retriever puppy that i had to learn how to train to be a hunting dog. But currently this goal is becoming harder and harder for me to be able to achieve with all my homework and after school activities. So what i have began doing is reading a book on how to train labs to be hunting dogs so that when i do get to train her it is not waisted time. 

         So one of the first steps in trying to train a puppy is by getting them to sit, stay, heal, and come those are the four needed commands in the dogs life in the early stages of training. Next you teach them how to use there sense of smell by giving them objects that have a certain smell and hiding them until they can smell the item out and find it. So That is where I am currently with training my dog and I hope it goes well.

Reading Response

            Currently in the Absolute True Diary of a Part Time Indian we are introduced to the main character whose name is Arnold we also learn that he was born with to much water in the brain which means he is a Hydrocephalic. Then we also find out that he underwent very risky surgery for the brain when he was little that could have left him with serious brain damage. But he ended up being fine. Another thing we learn about him is that he had 42 teeth that he had to get pulled out on the same day.
             Next in chapter 2 we learn that he belongs to a not very wealthy family who he explains that sometimes they cannot even afford to get food. Then he explains his affection of KFC fried chicken and how good it tastes after a long time of not eating anything at all. Another important thing that we find out in chapter 2 is that Junior his other name has a dog named oscar who is his best friend but there is one problem the Dog is sick and soon we learn that his dad shot him.

The Colosseum

           My research topic is on the Roman Colosseum. It was a huge amphitheater built in A.D. 70-72 by Emperor Vespasian of the Flavian dynasty as a gift to the Roman people. With 100 days of games, including gladiatorial combats and wild animal fights. The Roman Colosseum was constructed as entertainment for the roman people. It consisted of a series of acts such as executions, gladiator battles, war reenactments and exotic animal hunts.
          Its architecture allowed it to carry out many different things such as holding huge exotic animals such as hippos, giraffes, and even elephants. Another thing that was carried out in the colosseum was naval battle reenactments. They would flood the arena with water and build ships within the arena. I found this topic very interesting because of its importance in the Roman Empire at its peak. And the various uses it had to give the Roman people entertainment.

Last Semester

I have learned many things throughout my first semester of high school. But the Most important thing that I found out about myself being that I am a major procrastinator especially  when it comes to english such as blog entries, vocabulary and independent reading. I feel like it dug me a huge hole last semester that I was trying to climb out of for the whole time.
     So far in this semester I have fixed this by not procrastinating to the last minute to complete these assignments and it has helped me greatly. I have also made better of m time in study hall so I don't have loads of homework when I get home. I feel like this semester is going to be a lot better than the first one.

Free Post

This past Monday was Martin Luther King day where you are supposed to go out and help your community in ways of community service. Although I really wanted to go out and help my community it was a day full of chores from my mother. First things first I had to fix a gate. Now Fixing a gate can be pretty difficult fist you have to hammer nails back into the wood for support then you have to detach the old parts and replace them with the new. 

    After I completed that task I also had to help create a dog proof chicken wire fence to go around the house so the puppy couldn't go u under the house and get stuck. That took forever. Then after we took the measurements we had to go get the material to make it which included chicken wire, wire cutters and much more. In all I think that although I couldn't get out and help my community I still helped around the house to prepare for new things. 

Research

        Currently my research topic is going pretty well. But there were many difficult things for me to get to this point in my research topic such as trying to find 10 sources, and getting the 35 notecards done within the assigned date. Currently I am only on notecard three so you can understand how frustrating that can be.
        Another thing that I found frustrating is writing annotations about the sites I used because not only did you have to write a summary about it but you also had to look up the author, read the entire source and write about the reliability of the source, a summary and how it relates to your topic and that was very time consuming.
