Poem

It is hard to read and rhyme

when you are pressed for time

when you first start out 

but then you begin to doubt  

that the words won't come out 

And you feel the urge to shout and pout.

Then you slow down 

and go into town 

and get more ideas to put on the page 

as you slowly grow of age 

from the stress that stupid poem gave.

The types of poetry terms I used were end rhyme, internal rhyme, and hyperbole, and assonance.

Reading Response

  These pages start off when Junior goes to the school in Reardon. He gets the information from his dad that white people are no better than them but he doesn't think this is true. So he gets out of the car with a trash bag for a backpack and goes into the main office. When he receives his home room and id he goes into the room and sits by a girl. She asks him his name and he says junior. Bu later we finally get to know his actual name when the teacher is calling role which is Arnold. Then one day Arnold's parents do not have enough gas to bring him to school so he starts making the 22-mile hike when he gets a ride from his dad’s friend Eugene. 

     Then in chapter ten Junior talks about an Indian girl named Dawn who was very pretty and he loved her knowing he would never have a shot at dating her. We also find out that Junior cries a lot and he is the " opposite of a warrior." So far in the book I have liked it because it is kind of funny but at the same time it is sad. I like the contrast between Juniors personality and the people around him who think of him as weird. 

Research Paper

            Throughout this research project I have learned many valuable things but above all the two most valuable that I have learned is that you have to be very careful when you are trying to paraphrase another's writing. Because you can plagiarize without even knowing. Take this from me because I came from a school where we didn't have to write research projects and a few days ago was the first time I ever heard of the correct ways to paraphrase. Paraphrasing can be difficult because you don't know if what you wrote is too close to the original copy. So here’s a tip if you don't think it would past turnitin's test for plagiarism then don't use it. And also if you have a question about it ask Dr. D or somebody else.

         Another thing I've learned from this research project is if you have a problem don't try to fix it yourself always ask for help. This is usually a problem for me because I try to do everything by myself and it never works out. If you have a problem about formatting, plagiarism, anything just asks for help because it's not worth getting a bad grade.
