A Land More Kind Than Home

This week I read chapters 5-7 and right now in the book the perspective starts with the Sheriff talking about the background story of Pastor Chambliss how he was a person who was a man who got caught with petty theft and possession of drugs earlier in his life. And how when he was in a meth lab the meth lab caught fire and burned him yet to get skin grafts on three fourths of his body and almost died. That is how he got those burns. He was also charged with manslaughter because there was a girl inside the meth lab with him.
In the next chapters the perspective goes from the sheriff to Jess and just talks about how after stump dies from a snakebite they think that Pastor Chambliss did it. And one day a group from the church comes over with stumps body and apologize for what they did to him. Sheriff comes over when been Jess's dad is beating all three of the main members of the church for killing his son and the sheriff is worried that Ben may do something more drastic like kill Pastor Chambliss which the sheriff doesn't want him to do because he likes Ben.
