Throughout
this article, author David Catanese talks about Donald Trump’s
executive order to create a, "large physical barrier " or as Trump and his supporters call it, "the wall" and his steps to stop illegal immigration. Building is wall is estimated to cost between $15 and $25 billion dollars, according to Catanese, and it is not approved yet. President Trump says this wall and other steps will secure our borders, "Beginning
today the United States of America gets back control of its borders," The author does not particularly
agree on this topic although it is written in third person and not
particularly bias. He lets President Trump say what he thinks about the wall and immigration. Then the author uses quotes from other people who don't agree to balance the story. Tom Ridge who was a former Homeland security secretary states that, "I prefer
a president who'll tear down a wall rather than build one, but he's determined
to build it."
I think David
Cantese does a good job of presenting another opinion from Trump. I believe these steps would shut down the flow of innocent people who would like a
better life. Not all immigrants from Mexico are bad as Donald Trump sees it, and not all cause crime and need to be taken care of. Another thing
I thought about while reading this article was the fact that he is
going to put a ban on Muslim refugees from countries in the middle
east such as Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Trump also makes it seem like all Muslim immigrants are jihadist terrorists, except these men, woman and children are war refugees, not criminals. I understand that some Muslim extremists will sneak into the process but
you cannot forget about these people if one person causes a lot of deaths. It is
just one person or a group of extremists not an entire
country.
