Throughout the days of reading Purple Hibiscus I have found many challenges that I’ve had to face and overcome within this book such as the very time consuming work of annotating, writing and discussing all key features within this book. This is hard for me because I am a very big procrastinator and this is bad for me because it usually takes me a while to complete these assignments and also because these assignments take up much of the day to do. I have also found that my annotations in purple hibiscus are rather long and consume around one and a half hours a night to complete a bread-and-butter assignment. This has shown me at the time I am using to complete this assignment is way too long than it actually should be and I need to use my time more wisely in order to complete these assignments in a timely manner.
Another thing that I found is how helpful the
graded discussions are in class because they help me answer questions about
comprehension that is shown in the book but it is hard to understand what the
author is saying. They have also helped
me discuss questions that I found hard to understand in the book. These
questions we’re great for discussions because they did not have one answer each
person pitched in what they thought or inferred about the understanding of this
topic. This book has been hard for
me because of the time-consuming work
and balancing other classes on top of these big homework assignments. But
overall I feel like I have grown a lot more as a reader and I’ve also learned
how to manage my time more easily.
